The primary plan is to design and manufacture a formula type racing car to participate at the Formula SAE West competition held in Fontana, California June 24th 2008. This will bring national recognition to all sponsors involved with the project. The car will also be used for recruiting future engineering students interested in the Mechanical Engineering department at Portland State University. It will be used at various school functions for promotion of the engineering department and sponsors. Upcoming plans are to show and enter the car in various racing events held at Portland International Raceway and other local venues. Once the car is completed a series of outing will be necessary to test and tune the vehicle. Racing the car in events sanctioned by local racing authorities will help the team to gain experience in the racing world and to dial their skills on the track. Look for a schedule of events to be posted in April as the car’s completion nears.
